About Lotus Tower
The Lotus Tower (Nelum Kuluna) has redrawn Colombo's skyline: at 351.5 metres it is the tallest self-supported structure in South Asia, rising from the shore of Beira Lake as a stylised lotus bud - petals in pink-and-gold cladding atop a green stem - visible from almost anywhere in the city and from ships far out at sea. Opened fully to visitors in 2022, its observation deck at around 250 metres delivers the definitive Colombo panorama: the harbour and its cranes, Galle Face and the ocean haze, the Port City rising from reclaimed sea, and the green canopy of Viharamahadevi Park breaking the concrete. Evenings add a revolving restaurant and the tower's own LED bloom, which repaints the night sky hourly. Touristy? Completely. But as a first-night orientation to the capital - the whole city legible at your feet - nothing else comes close.
