About Little Adam's Peak
Little Adam's Peak is the walk that makes everyone fall for Ella. Named for its resemblance in miniature to the sacred Sri Pada, the 1,141-metre peak is reached by a gentle 45-minute trail from Ella's main road: first a lane through the manicured tea of the Ninety Acres estate (pluckers at work in the morning light), then flights of earthen steps up the spine of the ridge to a small golden Buddha and a series of grassy summits. The reward outweighs the effort absurdly: the whole Ella Gap opens at your feet - Ella Rock's dark wall opposite, the plains of the south glittering beyond, waterfalls threading distant cliffs. Sunrise is the classic slot, mist burning off the valleys as the light arrives. Thrill-seekers can add the Flying Ravana zipline that launches from the slopes below; everyone else lingers, then descends for breakfast in town.
