About Ravana Falls
Ravana Falls is one of Sri Lanka's most iconic waterfalls, a 30-metre cascade that plunges into a rock pool surrounded by dense forest. It's located on the Ella–Kandy route, just 20 minutes from Ella village by tuk-tuk. The hike to the falls is short (15 minutes) and easy, making it accessible for all ages. The water is cold and swimmable, and a natural pool forms at the base where locals and tourists cool off. Legend has it the waterfall is named after the demon king Ravana from the Ramayana. The falls are most impressive during monsoon season (May–June) when the volume is highest, but they're visitable year-round. It's a perfect half-day outing if you're based in Ella.
