About Ahangama
Ahangama has quietly become the surf capital of Sri Lanka's south-west. The coastline from Kabalana through Ahangama to Midigama holds the most consistent waves on this coast - from the famous 'The Rock' A-frame at Kabalana to mellow longboard walls - and a wave for every level breaks somewhere along this strip most mornings. Between sessions, the town hums with speciality coffee shops, sourdough bakeries, co-working cafes, and yoga shalas that have sprung up among the fishing villages. This is also classic stilt-fishermen country: at dawn and dusk you can still watch fishermen balanced on poles in the shallows, one of Sri Lanka's most iconic sights. Galle Fort and Koggala Lake are both within twenty minutes.
