About Pasikuda Beach
Pasikuda Beach is a long, shallow lagoon flanked by low-rise resorts and quiet guesthouses - one of the east coast's most family-friendly beaches. The water is warm, clear, and waist-deep for 100 metres offshore, making it ideal for young children and weak swimmers. Fish are abundant in the shallows, so snorkeling requires barely a swim. The beach is uncrowded compared to the south coast, and the village atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious. It's primarily a resort destination, but independent travellers will find guesthouses at the southern end. Pasikuda works as a quiet base for a few days, though it lacks the energy and dining scene of places like Mirissa or Hikkaduwa. The closest town is Kalmunai, 15 minutes south.
