About Anuradhapura
Anuradhapura was Sri Lanka's first great capital, thriving for 1,300 years. Today it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site filled with colossal dagobas (stupas), ancient palaces, and the Sri Maha Bodhi - a sacred fig tree grown from a cutting of the original tree under which the Buddha attained enlightenment, making it the oldest documented tree in human history.
