The Knuckles Range is a dramatic, spiky limestone ridge running between Kandy and Matale, named for its resemblance to a clenched fist. It's one of Sri Lanka's most scenic hiking destinations, with high ridgelines offering 360° views, lush cloud forest clinging to steep slopes, and a rich endemic biodiversity found nowhere else. Trails range from 2-hour forest walks to 2-day ridge treks. The range is home to the endemic Knuckles sambar, Horton's palm civet, and the rare Dumeril's ground boa.
