Dunsinane Falls carries its Macbeth name with highland style: christened by Scottish planters after the hill of the play, the fall drops roughly a hundred metres in bridal-veil tiers through the emerald amphitheatre of the Pundaluoya valley, between Nuwara Eliya and the Kotmale basin. Its sister fall a ridge away is called Sheen - the planters had a theme - and together they water some of the loveliest estate country on the island. The viewing is easy and the setting flawless: a short walk from the estate road ends at platforms where the fall pours between tea terraces stitched with pluckers' paths, line-room villages adding their colours below. A hanging bridge and estate lanes invite longer wandering. Far less visited than the A5's roadside falls, Dunsinane rewards the small detour with tea country compressed into a single, perfect view.
