Which Direction is Best?

However, Kandy to Ella is significantly more popular and tends to sell out faster. If you want a slightly quieter cabin, consider booking the reverse route from Ella to Kandy.
Understanding the Classes
There are three main classes on the Sri Lankan railways, each offering a very different experience:
